Sunny skies, a refreshing breeze, and good food – What a Spring Break! 5 days in Athens, and great memories – What a Spring Break!
For the majority of my 5 days in Athens, Greece, this was my view. The city spread out as far as the eye could see through the mountains, with the beach not too far away, could you ask for anything more?
In my first day in Athens, I explored the old ruins of ancient Greece. It felt like I was walking through a history book! Although I didn’t (and still don’t) fully understand Greek mythology, it was breathtaking to see the ruins of one of the greatest societies in human history. I loved reading about all of the architecture and how everything functioned.
Another day, I went to the beach, although that was the one day the sun was not out, but it was beautiful none-the-less.
A huge part of visiting a country like Greece is trying all of the special Greek food. I tried Moussaka. Moussaka is a layered dish with eggplant, tomato, ground beef, and a white sauce on top. It is baked and then it is pure deliciousness! I had the typical Gyro dish. The pita with chicken, lettuce, tomato, and tzatziki sauce and fries. I also tried a dish (I can’t remember the name) that was beef with a yogurt-esque sauce on top.
At the airport, there were not many options, so I ended up at a McDonalds, but this wasn’t just any Mcdonalds. This one had a Greek menu! So…of course I had to get a….
For the record, it was just another Gyro. HAHA.
All in all, I had a wonderful time in Greece and I cannot wait to learn more about Greek mythology and cannot wait to go back again later in life!
